pre contacts to evo

Re: xfer contacts

There is a patch in Preware that will make all of your contact into a vcf file. After that you just need to sign into a gmail account and upload the vcf file. When you sign into your Android phone for the first time, use that gmail account that you uploaded the vcf file to as your default gmail. That's it. Super easy. If you need any help with it at all contact me and I will help you. I did all this when I changed over in less 5 minutes.

Which is better: Going to the Sprint store to move contacts or doing it with the vcf file on your own?

Once you upload the vcf file to the gmail account, do you need to do anything else or does Google automatically take the info from the vcf file?

Do you need to have Pimlical to use Companion Link USB for Android. I only have Palm Desktop.

Palm Desktop works great too!

Do the contacts in DejaOffice have to be linked with the phone's contacts or can they be kept separate. I do not want my info in DejaOffice to go into the cloud and Google's servers.

Your DejaOffice contacts can be kept separate. In fact, they are stored in their own contacts database. We have built in the option to sync them to the phone's contacts for those who want it, but it is not required.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply David. Have the kinks been worked out with the updates to Companionlink?

I read about someone having problems losing data or having incomplete transfers during the sync process. Losing Palm Desktop data would be a disaster for my business. I like to back up the data to my phone just in case. I don't want to lose data when backing it up.

I am gettng an HTC Evo 3D soon with Gingerbread 2.3 software; any compatibility issues with this device? Can Deja Office be password protected?

Thanks.

The most important step in avoiding any data corruption is ensuring you set CompanionLink up properly. To that end, we have created detailed setup guides to help walk you through the process. You can find setup guides for Android & Palm Desktop here: Android, Palm Desktop. We also offer free technical support via phone and email (more info here) if you need any assistance getting things set up!

Also, it's always a good idea to have a backup of your data to revert to, whether you're syncing or not! Learn how to backup Palm Desktop here.

You shouldn't have any problems with the Evo 3D. We haven't seen any issues in our testing, and I haven't heard from any customers who've had any trouble with it either.

Can Deja Office be password protected?

The application itself cannot (though that's a good suggestion, and one I'll pass along!), but individual records can be. For details on how that works, check out our write up on Private Records here.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
