Pre-ordered my Xoom an hour ago..

That's weird. Its advertised on the website. You should point that out

I was going to point it out to the second store i called because they actually transfered me to the mobile department but before i could the guy hung up.

I had a totally different experience than many of you. I didn't get to Best Buy until 2pm today, and pre-ordered. I'm 9th on the list, which actually has me a little nervous, so I am definitely getting there first thing Thursday. I had heard most Best Buys were only getting 6-8 XOOMs for launch day. That in itself is crazy considering the leaked Costco memo stated that each store was getting a palette!

Anyway, I was pretty happy that my Best Buy had a decent pre-order figure, especially since I'm in a relatively small market.

I was going to go ahead and pre-order at best buy but, after that experience I'll just wait for Costco, which is better for me anyway.

I wish I could say that I pre-ordered today, but I'm waiting for the wi-fi only model and who knows when that'll be released.

20 mins on phone for them to go back and forth and decide Mobile is doing it and not Computers. 25 mins in store to wait for 1 of 2 Mobile guys to complete 1 transaction then be told to go to Computers. I said NO ...they found the forms in Mobile and signed me up.
Like someone else here, I only got the receipt and no appt. I think I must have been first though because they didn't have the forms before.

I don't see why we have to BE there because it even said on the form it was not necessary.

Also, I don't understand waiting for a WiFi only version? I am just planning to get one month and cancel. Isn't that what I saw in other forum? Won't I have same thing with just some extra unused crapware on it?

Good thing about Costco is that if it doesn't have some of the promised features in 90 days you can return it!

I though the WiFi price point was set to about $200 cheeper.

I hear you but gas or eggs might be cheaper in April too. I am 'one of those' people...Come to think of it...anyone wanna' buy an Archos 101 for about $200? Works fine and used less than 90 days :-)

That's fine, I was just answering your why question.

I decided to pre-order today in a Delaware Best Buy. The Customer Service and Geek Squad person both looked at me like i had 3 heads when I said "Xoom". lol

Fortunately the Mobile CSR was very happy to take my order. I'm 6th on the list and he confirmed with his manager that I will be able to get in on the first orders.

I can't freaking wait for Thursday! I'm calling them as soon as they open to see if i can get it first!!

Why is everyone so concerned with whether or not he/she is going to be able to get one on release day? You all preordered, your basically guaranteed one since you put money down

Not necessarily. All it takes is one BB employee to feel bad for the 6th person on the list when they only get 5 devices in. Plus, you didn't put any money down. All you did was buy a gift card for $50 to put your name on a list. There is no contractual obligation for the BB employees to give the first 5 pre-orders the 5 units they receive. In all likely hood they will, however its no guarantee.

To cover myself, I put a Xoom on hold at my local Verizon store as well, just to make sure I get one.
