Pre-ordered phones not at store on launch day? WTH?

Not sure if this should go in the BB thread, but it's a general Samsung issue. Ordered my phone the first day in person at BB. Went to the store today to get it and they don't have it. They actually didn't have the first 2 people in lines phones. They tell me they haven't received it from Samsung yet. They say hopefully it will arrive in a shipment later today. So, Samsung has been making the phones for months, I ordered it the first day I could and Samsung can't get it to the store by launch day with all the other phones? It's not like I ordered it yesterday expecting it to be here today.

Phone manager told me this is normal for launch day. Just plain horrible service from Samsung.

To make matters worse, I called BB customer service and they said it can take up to 7 days (after today) to arrive. Are you kidding me?
 
Pretty typical Best Buy experience there. Terrible place too preorder, but they have good trade ins so makes it tough. Just never expect a phone on release day from them, if you get it, you're lucky.

Yea, the trade in value was the reason I went with them. I haven't had problems with them in the past, but this experience is horrid
 
It sucks but it could be an issue with the shipping company (Fedex, UPS, whoever they use) -- not saying it is but it is a possibility that could happen.

While I suppose it's possible, this seems to be a known issue every year and lots of people here are sans phone so I doubt it's the shipping company.

Yeah -- it is most likely BestBuy. I was just being nice giving them the "**** happens" side of the coin but if other users are saying it happens a lot then it is definitely Best Buy. Maybe them slacking on getting the orders in so the shipments arrive before the day?
 
Depends on the BBuy, too. Some stores have them for days in advance before they ship from those stores to others, but they use their own shipment system (which I guess sucks?).

Yea, that's nice of you to try and cut them some slack. :-)

I don't if it's BB or Samsung just not getting them the orders in time. I'm happy to direct my angst at whomever the correct entity is. :-)
 
Best Buy does this every major phone launch, regardless of brand. This years iPhone Xs Max pre-order was just as much of a debacle as this one appears to be. My local Best Buy told me one year they have no idea how many phones they will get on launch day, the online ordering system makes a guess and its always too optimistic.
 
It must be an individual Best Buy thing. I have done two pre-orders with store pickup (S9+ and S10+) and my phones are always ready. I just ordered my S10+ in store 4 days ago and I got a call last night and made an appointment for today. I can't explain why someone wouldn't have theirs today if ordered weeks ago. So maddening.

Sorry this happened to you. I posted quite a few times in the Best Buy preorder thread about how horrible they are. I've had 2 nightmare experiences with pre-ordering phones from Best Buy and will never do it again.

They are notorious for over promising and under delivering. Good luck, I hope you get your phone soon!
 
They obviously over sale. You can't take preorders up until the day before release and then tell Samsung...looks like we sold 100,000, please have here tomorrow to all of our stores in these colors and carrier. They should cut pre-sale off days in advance so can order and have delivered correctly.
 
My 512GB Ceramic White was delayed but...


Samsung is giving me FREE Galaxy Buds for the inconvenience.

I wish my girl's S10 Prism Blue 128GB was also delayed. LOL
 
I went back to the store to cancel my order as I was thinking about eating the $550 BB discount and just getting it from Verizon for $200 off. Originally ordered a black 128 plus. They had a white 128 or a black 512 for $250 more. Really didn't want the girly white, but its going to be covered with a case so I went ahead with it. Talked to the manager that I was rather frustrated at this morning. She said there were many people at least as mad as I was.
 
That happened to me at Best Buy on the iPhone XS Max launch day. I preordered a 512GB iPhone XS Max to pick up at Best Buy on launch day and they never even received the phone that day. They told me the same thing they told you that maybe it would be in on the truck at night. I promptly canceled the order and walked into a Verizon store and picked up a 256GB version instead.
