Predictions: When will the Sprint GNex be released?

Except for the millions of sprint customers... that don't have any better device offered.

To add to your android world, I've already stopped caring about you, so yes, agreed.

Seriously? Oh how will I ever be able to live my life now?

By mid-March 2012. IMO they are not going to sit on this phone for 6 months. It has a 12 month shelf life. Google Nexus site says "Coming Soon". "Soon" is not 6 months.

LAS VEGAS – Sprint is making a big jump over to LTE. The company won't be introducing any more WiMAX smartphones, Sprint's VP of product realization David Owens said today, preferring instead to bulk up its upcoming LTE lineup. And those LTE phones will be Android phones, at least for now, as Owens had some tough things to say about Microsoft's Windows Phone OS.

Sprint launched its first two LTE smartphones here at CES, the flashy Samsung Galaxy Nexus (we have a full review of the Verizon Wireless model) and the LG Viper, which we did a hands-on with earlier at the show.

With those two in the pipeline and more phones potentially coming "by midyear" when Sprint launches LTE, the company is pretty much done with launching WiMAX smartphones, Owens said.

"We've just gone through an extensive set of launches," which will keep Sprint's product line fresh for a while, Owens said.

"April, May, June, July, August, those will be very aggressive times for us," Owens said.

And he warned that Sprint will probably over-deliver on its LTE buildout promises. While Sprint has only promised four LTE cities by the middle of the year, "By the second half of the year" means "between now and midyear," Owens said. "Other markets may launch in 2012," too.

I think around the April to May time frame they will release it.

They really cant wait that long. The Nexus Specs arent that earth shattering and by June we should be seeing phones with much better specs then the Nexus.

By June we should be seeing the Htc Evo 3. And then late Summer the Galaxy SIII.

let's look at the past to help us guess the future -

3-23-10 EVO 4G announced
6-4-10 EVO 4G available for sale

10-18-11 Verizon SGN announced
12-15-11 Verizon SGN available for sale

1-9-12 Sprint SGN announced
3-9-12 Sprint SGN available for sale?

Cant be hype for this phone anymore.. I dont live in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

If you're lucky enough to live in those four initial markets then yeah by all means speculate the release date of the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise, why bother? I personally won't even consider buying an LTE device from Sprint until they have announced something about the area I live in. It seems that people have forgotten about buying a WiMax enabled phone only to find out that they're not getting WiMax in their area (or did not get it until months later). I guess my point is I for one wouldn't want to be stuck with Sprint 3G service if I were to buy one of their LTE phones. *end rant*

Because, if I want a high end device that will last me 2+ years, I need an LTE one whether I get LTE or not. Your thought had been mine when I got my first phone, the Hero, instead of the EVO. It worked great for the first year, but in this last year I've been having all sorts of problems due to hardware being outdated.
Can you suggest any other device with specs similar to/better then the Nexus Galaxy that doesn't have LTE (or WiMax, since that isn't in my area and never will be now)? The two other phones I'm looking at are the Nexus S, but since the Nexus Prime isn't getting an ICS update the S may not get an Android 5.0 update next year whereas the Nexus Galaxy will, and the Galaxy 2S but the lack of an NFC radio on the Sprint version puts me off a bit. And both of those are WiMax phones as I recall, so I shouldn't buy them according to you since I don't have WiMax where I live.

You're getting your phone names confused. Kind of makes your post not make any sense.

Not sure what you mean by getting phones names confused, but I can see where I'm sort of rambling/not being too clear. So let me rephrase in what will hopefully be more legible. [EDIT]: Yes, sorry, it's been so long since the first Nexus got released I couldn't remember the name, and I remember the name "Nexus Prime". Since "One" and "Prime" can for all intents and purposes be the same word I got the names confused.

drewC said there is no point to get an LTE phone until you get LTE in your area, and as such drewC probably believes that there is no point in getting a WiMax phone if there is no WiMax in the area.
I'm wondering what phones Sprint has right now/will have soon that will have similar specs to the Nexus Galaxy but will not have a 4G antenna at all, since Madison WI does not have WiMax, and will not have LTE for at least three years if the WiMax rollout is anything to go by.
The two phones that seem to have fairly similar specs as the Nexus Galaxy are the Nexus S and Galaxy S2. My worry with the Nexus S is that since the Nexus One isn't getting an update for ICS right now, the Nexus S may not get an update to what ever version is being released winter 2012/2013. In the case of the Galaxy S2 I don't like the fact that the Sprint version lacks NFC.
But, since both of these phones have 4G, and according to drewC there is no point in getting a device I wouldn't be able to use I shouldn't even consider these phones.

tl;dr : I mixed up the name of the Nexus One with the unofficial name for the Nexus Galaxy in my original post since "Prime" is more or less the same thing as "One". And if you exclude 4G devices because there is no 4G where you live, all you'll be able to buy is crap phones.

I know that's just a wild guess but JULY 29!!!!? That's waaaaay too long of a wait. I seriously wouldn't mind if they released it in March with no LTE out the gate and they just flip the switch in June. I know, dumb to launch an LTE phone with no LTE but I really want this phone. Please Sprint, take my money now. I'm fine with wifi for the time being.
