April 8? Really? Hope so. My birthday is April 6 and this would be a good present to myself. :D

I'm sure the device could be ready by then, but the network isn't. Besides, isn't HTC and Sprint announcing what I presume is an HTC One X variant around that time? Don't seem then announcing one device and launching another so close to each other. I'd say look for mid-May to early June the earliest.

how do you know that their network isn't ready? you don't. you have no idea.

i think an April 15 release date is probable.

This is from the above mentioned Gadgetian article:

"It’s worth noting that the source has mentioned that Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus won’t have LTE turned on by default. The handset will support eHRPD, which is a protocol that lets the handset to switch back and forth between 3G EVDO and 4G LTE connections. So, you can save the battery life, while you won’t use LTE radio. Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus is also expected to get the LTE Self Discovery mode sometime in June. Using this mode, the handset can search for a LTE signal on it is own, and turn LTE off itself automatically if it cannot reach the LTE speeds."

You will not have to have the 4G LTE active in your area for the phone to work just fine.

Random subject change to pass the time.

Recently, I have noticed more reception bars in places I had not seen them before.
Mostly inside buildings, but outside also.
I am rooted so I have a total of 4 bars and I am seeing 3 bars where there was 2 and 4 bars where there was 3 which is really cool.

I know Sprint has been building up the 3G service while doing the 4G LTE work but I am kind of impressed.

Anybody else noticed more bars and/or better reception?

What city are you in? Part of network vision includes returning iden towers to cdma. Coverage will drastically improve in many areas. You may already be seeing the benefits.

I'll put it like this. My work used to be nothing but a 1X area. Now with all the work they are doing I now get right a meg to a meg and a half all day long. Impressed....you bet I am!

I guess that piece of information would be helpful. :-!

I am in the Atlanta metro area which is on the list of first round upgrades, so that does make some sense.

Edit: I knew they were upgrading the system along with doing the LTE stuff, but I was a little surprised at the reception jump.
Pleasantly surprised.
Now I am wanting the Galaxy Nexus even more knowing that it will be ready to rock the 3G and then the 4G LTE when activated in June. :)

Sorry to keep you waiting guys. its indeed the gal nex. I only got about 30 seconds with it ( he is using it as his legit phone, after all) and when I asked to run a benchmark, he got that look on his face (he's got 5 inches and 40 pounds on me, so I decided not to push my luck). It has the sprint logo on the back ( in the same place as the Verizon logo) and no sprint loaded applications ( unlike the toro)

Any info on the specs? If not, no problem. Just curious.
