How many of you have changed your network from 5G (recommended) to LTE? I don't live anywhere near the 5G signal, so I set my phone to LTE. Possibly battery-saving?? Also, if you are in a 5G area, do you see "5G" up in the notification bar? Just curious.

I left mine on 5G for now since Verizon says we have Nationwide 5G when outside in my city. But I have not seen anything other than LTE in the status bar. I might change it to LTE only.

I'm Verizon also, but 5G nowhere around here yet.

I leave it on. I really never tested it on LTE only, but I'm sure it would be good for me most of the time on LTE and when I travel away from home there are a few areas with 5G. I have noticed the status bar on the pixel change from LTE to 5G which is good. I remember with some other phones 5C state on the top all the time

Even though my phone is unlocked, because it has an AT&T sim card, AT&T prevents me from switching to LTE.

In my area I get 5g, but it sucks. With my Samsung phones on lte is faster here. And less battery drain. And the phone operates cooler

Pull down the notification shade select the carrier/wifi toggle by long pressing it. For me since I'm on Verizon I see this: https://imgur.com/a/vaEJZjD. Click the gear icon next to Verizon and scroll down to Preferred Network Type. and change it to LTE.

Well, that's what I did. But, apparently att doesn't allow it. There is no way to switch to lte. On my Samsung phones I had to download the Samsung Band Selection app in order to switch to lte. I haven't found a similar app for Google phones. Verizon allows it. ATT does not .

Could that be due to AT&T's 5G (evolution) that is really a 4.5G system? By now, their entire system might say 5G when it is not technically 5G, thus, no LTE option?

I only ask out of curiosity, makes no difference.

First thing I did and battery life has been fantastic. 5G might be one of the most overblown features in cellular tech today. If you live in a city where the 5G speeds are blazing knock yourself out. But I think for the vast majority of people even today turn that 5G off and watch your battery life soar.

AT&T is now the most draconian major carrier. They lock down trivial settings and options that no one else does.

Very much depends on what you are looking for from 5G. For me, the speeds are noticeably faster, but that really isn't a big deal to me - 4G LTE was plenty fast enough for everything I do. Where 5G is of value to me is in the broadly enhanced coverage.

I'm running on T-Mobile's sub-6 and have greatly enhanced coverage in-building and in areas where there wasn't functional 3g/4g before.

Hopefully as AT&T and Verizon begin deploying their C-band next year their users will realize sufficient benefit to where it'll make sense for more of them to toggle 5g back on.

I get almost no signal at home on LTE or 5G so I'm always on WiFi. Not a problem as we upgraded to Gigabit service recently. '

Outside I get a strong 5G signal and the speed feels impressive. Way faster than 4G/LTE ever was. I'm on Verizon and I believe they converted a bunch of towers in my area from LTE to 5G. I thought they were going to ADD the new band to existing towers but no, they switched them completely.
