Preparing EVO for Froyo?

I'm guessing that i shouldn't back up sprint apps? can someone confirm?

Nah. Sprint definitely added their nonsense to the update. Hell, they probably have new nonsense with 2.2 lol. Either way just take care of the apps that you downloaded and you'll be good to go.

I've backed up my apps to my SD card using Astro (very simple BTW)..

But would you guys recommend a factory reset before the update (clean everything up), then update, and after that put apps back on one by one?

If you are rooted wait till one of the dev work out the kinks and customize it. That's what I'm going to do wait till they get a good working kernel and customize Rom

Yes you won't lose any info whatsoever. And at this point most apps have been updated to be froyo compatible so not much to worry about. Your phone will be just as it was before the update:-)

No need to do anything. No need too back up anything. Don't worry people. I've been dealing with updates since cupcake was all the rave.

Im going to be putting my phone on a charger during the download and install, I don't care if my phone is at 99% or 9%, I wanna play this phone the second it's done installing 2.2!

What will happen if I update my phone while it's rooted? I don't want to erase anything and I haven't found a way to unroot the phone with out erasing everything.

Don't think it will allow charging while updating. Last time it said I needed to be at, I think, 35% battery to even initiate the download and update process. I believe you can leave on charger after you have enough battery. Just keep the thing as close to full as you can for possibly tomorrow, but next week for sure!

Is this update going to intiate by itself or do you have to do it?
I just synchronized my APPS with AppBrain to be safe..

ota is scheduled to be pushed starting tuesday, today if you go to update manually on your phone starting 12 pm cst

yeah...sure did. I've been away a little with some ordeal. Just now getting a chance to keep up with my EVO. And looks as though I was just in time. :)

I know we can be sure, but anyone think maybe the battery will improve some with froyo? Im not getting the 13 plus hours off the charger like you guys

Maybe I read this differently, but I thought it starts Tuesday at 12pm cst if you do manual update. The rolling update will go through middle of August. I don't see anything that says it will work today at 12pm cst. Where are you getting this from?

Only one way to find out...let's give it a try at that time!

I thought all you had to do was uninstall the root program? Is that just with Unrevoked?
