Preparing for an Upgrade

I haven an OG Droid that I plan on upgrading to the Bionic at the end of the week.

This is my first upgrade from one android phone to another (previously it was from my beloved Motorola e815 to a BlackBerry then from that to my Droid) and I am just figuring out what I should expect to be able to transfer and what I need to backup or make note of.

I know the contacts are covered, but what about my apps from the Android Market? I have a bunch of apps through Amazon's app store as well but I'm assuming they are fine for transfer.

Is there anything else I should be concerned about?

I don't think you should be concerned of anything else. I'm sure you have a SD Card for your music, pics, etc..

I've noticed that, depending on how you installed some apps, sometimes the market doesn't automatically restore everything when you switch phones. I would at least make a list of all the apps you have so you can remember.

You can also create a backup of your apps and save them to your SDcard using appSaver.
I don't think it will save the settings, but at least you will have a backup of all of your apps.

I've done a combo of all those. I have a list. The apps that have user data saved to them I put onto my micro sd card. And for the most part, Android Market is pretty good about restoring what you have (I've had to factory reset my phone many many times). Amazon Apps don't necessarily install themselves again straightaway, but when you sign in to your account it's just a matter of redownloading and installing them. It's pretty painless. I think the most time-intensive thing for me will be getting my homescreen short cuts and widgets set up just the way I like :)

If you rooted then titanium backup is the way to go.

I agree. That's what I use for my Dinc. But I don't think you can restore your apps once you migrate to the Bionic (because it won't be rooted), correct?
