Question Prevent notifications via Bluetooth?

I have a Samsung S22 Ultra phone (Android 15) and I wear Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids.

I want to be able to hear phone call audio in my hearing aids but NOT hear notifications in my hearing aids. I don't want to completely disable my phone's audible notifications, I just don't want to hear those in my hearing aids. Essentially, I want audible notifications coming only through the phone's speakers and still being able to hear telephone conversations in my hearing aids.

How can I accomplish this goal?

I asked Google and got this reply,

To prevent notifications from playing through connected hearing aids on a Samsung phone, you can either manage individual app notifications or adjust audio routing settings for calls and media. You can also consider turning off notification sounds and system sounds entirely, or using Sound Assistant (if available on your device) to manage alerts through headphones. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Detailed Steps:

  1. Manage App Notifications:
    • Go to Settings > Notifications.
    • Select App notifications.
    • Choose the specific app you want to manage.
    • Turn off notifications for that app or customize the notification sound to be silent. [1, 4]
  2. Adjust Audio Routing (For Calls and Media):
    • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing devices. [1, 1, 3, 3]
    • Select your hearing aids (if listed). [1, 1, 3, 3]
    • Choose Audio routing. [3, 3]
    • For Call audio, you can select Never hearing devices to prevent calls from playing through them. [3, 3]
    • For Media audio, you can also select Never hearing devices to prevent media from playing through them. [3, 3]
  3. Disable Notification Sounds (General):
    • Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Notification sound. [4, 4]
    • Select Silent. [4, 4]
    • You can also adjust other sound settings like touch sounds and keyboard sounds here. [4, 4, 5, 5]
  4. Use Sound Assistant (If Available):
    • Download and open the Sound Assistant app (if available on your device). [2]
    • Go to Advanced settings. [2]
    • Select Alerts through headphones and turn off the sliders. [2]

i wear phonak hearing aids, paired to s25+ for calls/notifications.

long pushing bt in drop-down menu, only details/no options!!

either listen paired thru h a's or unpaired thru phone speaker!!

Look again at your BT option. Following mustang7757's instructions, pull down from the right corner of the screen to show your quick settings panel. Press and hold the BT button until the connection screen appears. Below the selections there are two options, Details and Done. Touching Details will bring up a list of every device you've ever connected to and show you a list of available connections. In that list find your hearing aids, tap the gear icon next to them and show us a screenshot of those settings.

In the meantime, you may find better help from people who also use hearing aids since this may be an issue they've dealt with, where this is new for most if not all of us.

I found this forum where I found multiple mentions of Phonak brand hearing aids.

There is a Phonak FB group.

Phonak's own FAQ page with search.
