Prevent responding to text pop-up over lock screen

I have text messages that pop-up over the lock screen. Which is good. But with the phone in my pocket, occasionally keys will enter, usually garbage and they haven't sent. But, is there a way to prevent responding to a text until I unlock the phone? I can't seem to find that in settings anywhere.
