Preventing screen redraws with replacement launchers

It seems that no matter what homescreen replacement i use, I'm always faced with sporadic (and sometimes more frequent) screen redraws everytime i go back to the home screen. Right now I'm running CM6 RC-2 and ADW is part of the system, meaning it isn't installed on top and it still suffers from redraws, sometimes everytime I hit "home." I've got "persistence" checked and do not have a ton of widgets running, though I do have scrollable contacts. I've also had the problem in the past with launcher pro and I also have the galaxy S launcher installed.
The only other thing I cna think of is that powerstrip may be part of the problem. Though I did switch the settings so that one home click brings up the home screen and 2 launches powerstrip.
Anybody else offer any suggestions?

I believe launcher pro has a setting where when checked off it keeps it in memory therefore not having to redraw the homescreens. Not sur ehow much of a hog it is though

They both ahve it and I've got it checked. doesn't seem to help though.
