Price drops at virgin mobile usa

This phone is part of the 35$ plan right? as well as the rest that come? (lol I should know this)

Is that Triumph pricing change recent? I was hoping to see a significant drop with the EVO coming out so that I could give it a try and still keep my $25/month plan.

not sure. i know the triumph was $299 as early as last week and this new price doesn't say its on sale like it usually does. and im liking the elite price...not so thrilled about its overall specs though. especially the screen size. but i suspect vm will reduce all the prices and push atleast one phone out of the line up,possibly two. but it's most likely going to be the rumor 2.

Yeah the price on the Elite is appealing, but the specs and losing my grandfathered plan aren't. I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for a deal on the Triumph and give it a go with CM7

big whoop it doesn't matter since Virgina is hosing all of its grandfathered customers after May 27th. I called them today to ask about the upgrade policy and ANY phone upgrade after that date will require you to forfeit your grandfathered plan even if its to a phone that was introduced before May 27th.

So basically if my parents want to upgrade from their OVs to used Triumphs their SOL and to me that's completely unfair since that phone has been out for almost a year.

I don' think that Triumph price is lowered, I thought it has been at that rate for over a month.

You can get the Elite for $149 in stores and probably the Triumph for well under $250.

If this is true, I'll have to snag a Triumph by then. Thanks for posting that

No, you aren't hosed. You can't change to a newer phone, but you are perfectly welcome to keep an older phone and your grandfathered plan. And yes, you can switch to the Triumph and remain grandfathered.

Triumph is grandfathered, it doesn't matter when you pick one up. If you switch to one of the newer phones (released this month or later), you will lose that status, no matter when you buy it.

I realize this, but he said he talked to someone and they said after May 27th, any upgrade would cause you to lose the grandfathered plan. The notice they have on their site says "at this time" phones released before May 1st won't cause you to lose the plan. Maybe after the 27th it's all upgrades?

My understanding is that...
Any phone released after May 1st kills your grandfathered status, however, the new rate won't start until after the 27th.

So if you buy an Elite today and your monthly payment is due tomorrow, your bill would still be $25, but your next one would be $35.

$279 for the Triumph? No way will that stick alongside a $300 Evo. I thought I saw it for $229 a few weeks back for a period of time.

My guess, they're hiking it up temporarily to take advantage of everyone who doesn't understand that they can keep their grandfathered plans on any phone released before May 1st, no matter when they purchase it.

Yes, the Triumph was down that low, for a sale. I expect it to drop below $250 about the time we see the Evo V, and maybe another 20-40 when the OneV drops. It's going to drop one way or another.

Virgin's prices are often higher than stores, probably to keep the stores happy.

i wonder. with the triumph becoming affordable to a larger group of people, would more people owning it bring more enthusiasm to develop more for the triumph than what is currently available? it is a powerful phone that has a lot going for it.

The Triumph price has been at $279.99 for quite a while. You can get one for $230 from Amazon also for quite a while.

Here is the upgrade policy from horse's mouth
What are the new device upgrade rules?

Got the information thanks to
How to Upgrade or Replace Your Virgin Mobile Phone Without Losing Your Grandfathered Rate Plan

as for the triumph being $279 for awhile,i saw it listed on the phones listing on their site last week at $299 base price. but they change it so much. who knows. ive visted their site during sales events and prices changed daily. but owning a triumph at $25 a month is reasonable to me. but im leaning heavily towards the evo.

i was looking at their phones, plans and more page for beyond talk. tuesday as a matter of fact. triumph was listed at $299. i know what i saw.

curtis I dont think lowering the price will get more people to buy it. If it does it wont be people that develop roms and such it will be people that want a larger phone for less money.

The dev community is not really impressed with the device. I think CM and AOKP could offer official support and people would laugh and ignore them. LeslieAnn posted once before they used a decent processor surrounded craptasic parts. The radios and such seem to have issues that Moto refuses to fix because VM wont pay for the devs to fix it.
