PRL Swap for the V on VM (latest PRL for Sprint Towers).

I was gonna be out of the normal area of coverage today and thought hey ill try this...Like a dumbass I flashed the sprint one instaed of verizon. 288 miles and about 95 of it was withoug service LOL.

I've tried doing this over and over again with no luck. My phone reboots every time the PRL starts to load and I end up right back to 61007. Can you post a screen shoot confirming you have 60676 on your V?

i can verify it works. well i think it does because for me it also reboots before the bar finishes but in the status info it says i have 60676 on my phone

I can verify. 3G is absolutely not available on sprint or Virgin Mobile where I am located (checked the maps on sprints site). When I was out yesterday, I did get some spotty 3G, which of-course is better then no 3G at all. So I must of been hitting some towers that were not available to me before.

Edit: Your phone is supposed to reboot, after the PRL is pushed.

And if I am understanding this correctly, you can now only connect to Verizon towers? And if you want to go back to using Sprint towers, you have to get a stock PRL to push? Or can you now freely connect to either network?

I'm just trying to understand what all of this implies before I try it. As I understand it, you can't reverse what you've done until someone uploads a the stock PRL from this phone.

From my understanding. It's a sprint PRL, that allows roaming on Partner Towers. I can not confirm what towers I am hitting. Now I know I am not hitting all the Verizon towers (maybe just some), as I have had Verizon phones, and I had 3G pretty much everywhere here. If you want to play it safe, wait till someone uploads the stock Virgin Mobile 61007 PRL.

Well technically, I have the stock PRL now. I could try to upload it if I was shown a procedure. I still can't get my MSL. Whenever I do a google search for "CDMA Workshop 2.7" I only come up with viruses. I tried a market app that was supposed to give it to me, but it failed to run.

You likely will hit the same wall I did, when trying to backup the stock PRL. You will need the MSL to make any progress in QPST. And to get the MSL, you need CDMA Workshop. Not sure if the demo is enough to quickly find out your MSL and change it. Might worth a shot though, if you are having problems finding the full version.

Well, i'm not a big fan of piracy, so I downloaded the demo version. It's limitation was that I couldn't use any com ports larger than 10.... That was hard to defeat: device manager -> ports -> LGE Android...USB Serial -> Properties -> Port Settings -> Advanced -> COM port number. Then I followed you directions to get my MSL. Thanks! I'm going to see what I can do from here and I'll report back tomorrow.

You might want to change your MSL to 000000, easy to remember. Here is a picture of the place you need to be to backup the PRL. I got this far, but when I hit 'read", it goes 3/4th of the way, and then pops up with error, "The phone has stopped responding to memory read/write commands". I do not getting any errors when I write the PRL however.

Yes, I'm getting the same error. What would happen if it read correctly? Would I press "save to file"?

Na, I think it would popup and ask you to save. When you flash a PRL, you hit browse, pick your PRL, and then hit "Write to Phone". But if you are unsure, wait till a skilled individual finds a way to backup 61007 from VM.

So I was not able to download the prl from my phone. Well the 61007 file posted here is definitely not the same one that is on stock virgin phone. I get that I am digitally roaming when I use it. I flashed to 60676, and I also get that I am digitally roaming but it quickly goes away. I guess it finds a Sprint tower nearby. But everything seems to work just fine! I surfed the web and made some calls.

BTW I don't get anything when I dial *2. Are those direction from another phone?

Nice! I guess I'll be able to roam when I need to.

here is a copy of the 61007 prl. I uploaded it to google docs cuz I love you guys and don't want you guys to wait 60 to 90 seconds here :D

Nice job, thank you! That got me back to the stock prl! Now there is very little danger in doing this! (Danger, as in being stuck on a non functional prl. You can still easily brick your phone.)

I was able to get my MSL from CDMA WS demo, changed to 6 zeros, changed to Sprint PRL 60676 using QPST.
I am in a Sprint area so I'm not roaming, but 3G data speeds are exactly the same as before I changed the PRL.
Thanks to OP and all posters for an excellent tutorial.
Has anyone tried to change the slot cycle index using CDMA WS for faster connections to the cell tower?

I used QPST main page to change slot cycle index to 1.
I'm not sure if it's coincidental but 3G data latencies measured using Speedtest.net app now seem improved.

I thought the slot cycle index related to voice and not data.
