I am on PRL 15109. My questions is this the current one? It hasn't changed in a very long time. How do you update your PRL on this phone?

its the one i have, and i am very happy with it so no need to even change it for me.

but one way to update it is to pull the battery and SIM and boot the phone without the SIM card. then pull battery, replace sim and battery and boot again. it should update then. keep in mind, an updated PRL doesn't mean better. i have seen a few people that have wanted to revert back to the 15109 after an update.....and i just dont even know if that is possible, let alone how to do it.

I pulled the battery and SIM, put battery back in and booted. Pulled battery again and reinserted the SIM. No update. I am guessing I have the latest PRL. I sure wish it still worked with the *228, that was easy.

When I try to update it by calling *22899 from my contacts I get a message telling me that a special call needs to be made to activate my phone service. At this point I chicken out and cancel. Will it harm anything if I proceed with the activation?

Never activate a 4g LTE phone like that you could fry it. It does it automatically and yes you have to call.
