I was in Best Buy today getting a little hands on time with the new devices. The Ultra definitely stole the show whole the S20 was the most comfortable in hand. The zoom wasn't that impressive on the S20 as well but that periscope zoom on the Ultra is really a breath of fresh air.

I wanted to test out the "pro" photo and video modes to get some of my own personal questions answered. First, I love that Samsung gives you kind of a custom preset with saturation, tint, shadow and highlight controls. That's something that LG has never had. However, Samsung does not allow you to change the ISO or shutter speed after hitting record. You're locked in to whatever you set before you start recording. Also no option for the ultrawide or telephoto (I knew that was a stretch) manual controls in photo or video modes. And this is where LG pulls ahead for me. You do get manual controls for photos and video with the ultrawide on LG devices and I'm curious to see if they finally pushed it to the telephoto as well this year.

So I'm not sure how much pro I can really give them credit for with that setup. But the footage looked good nonetheless and Samsung at least gives you something as opposed to straight auto modes. I'm going to wait for the V60 announcement before I make a decision on getting one. I like the size of the S20 but I love the quality of the Ultra more. But that price!

Yeah, I dont know why they don't include more manual features but most people probably wouldn't use them so there is no real motivation to do the right thing.

Yes but that's the whole point of adding a pro mode. Samsung just kind of half way committed to the idea of catering to content creators rather than going all the way like Sony and LG. I'm not mad at them for it though. Certainly better that Apple and Google's approach.

Yeah, I dont disagree. These companies do a lot of baffling things and a lot of of great things. It seems like there isn't one though who can get everything right when it comes to photo, video/audio.
