Problem answering calls

Finding the sliding on the green icon when a call is coming in wasn't working for me so I went into the settings and changed answer method to press volume up button to answer...and that hasn't worked either.

On rare occasions I have been able to answer a call, but most times I'm finding myself having to call the person back.

Anyone else having a problem with answering?

Found my answer with a little Googling.

You have to go to Settings and the Accessibility Menu, Interaction and Dexterity. Turn on the Assitant menu, under which you turn on Single tap to swipe. A single tap on the green phone will answer.

I turned off the volume up button to answer because it just wasn't working.

Well...the single tap cure comes with a curse. You get an annoying floating assistant menu which you can move all over the screen and gets in the way. The only way to get rid of it seems to be to turn off the Assistant Menu! You can see the icon in this screen grab.

There are many, many complaints about this on the web.floating menu.jpg

When you tap on that icon in the middle of the screen a series of options open up on the screen and you can swipe across them. It's very intrusive and unnecessary.

Yes, my wife can’t seem to get the tap-and-swipe timing right either. And the volume-up button is too clumsy to use with a phone case in place. Her old S5 had a “Home” button I set for her to press and answer; this phone doesn’t have a big button like that, nor can it’s Home button be set to answer calls. It’s been a pain. By the time she finds or gets to her ringing phone and makes 4 or 5 attempts to answer, it stops ringing. On top of that, Verizon can’t stop it from going to Voicemail after only 5 rings! She gets so darned mad at this phone!

I think they don’t want you to just tap (no swipe) to answer because of the risk of accidentally answering unwanted or unknown calls. We also somewhere got that doggone “floater” stuck on her screen. I think you can set it’s translucence, but I’d rather it just was gone.

I see confirmation - I'm not the only one having trouble answer with a swipe!

About that floaty menu. The only way to get rid of it is to turn off the Assistant Menu and then you lose the one tap answer.

Oh well...perhaps there'll be a fix from Samsung?

When you see the float menu just hold down on it and move it to the circle at top of screen. Just like removing a home screen app. It will then be only on the drop down notifications menu. The one touch will still work. Hope this helps. If you boot your phone ( on/off) it comes back so you will have to hide it again.

Now why didn't I see that?!

I love this forum! Solves so many problems and teaches me so much!

Thanks!

The single tap to answer has been eliminated from the phone, with a recent update, I guess, so I guess I can just turn off the Assistant menu.

The option to tap to answer calls has been moved from a separate option within accessibility to within the floating assistant menu itself.
