Problem while connecting USB Adapter to Galaxy tab 2 10.1

Hey,
I've bought a SGT 2 recently and when I tired connecting usb to the usb adapter into the tab, it just shows the usb symbol and then disappears.
So I'm not able to connect my pendrive to my tab.

Note : I've not used the original SAMSUNG USB adapter but a local one.
Also is it possible to connect a Net setter to Tab using USB Adapter

Please help..
