Problem with changing size of split screen in landscape mode (after Android N)

Ever since the Android N update I can't seem to get any split-screen apps to resize while my phone is in landscape mode (horizontal). I can touch and drag one of the sides over, but the line snaps back to the middle every time.

This used to work fine in Samsung's version of split-screen mode.

Also, portrait mode (vertical) resizes normally. So I'm pretty confused here...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh, I finally found an article stating this "freeform mode" isn't supported in Android N. How disappointing.

Can I get my Samsung version back?
