Samsung SM-A536U - about three years old

whenever I start to charge, I get a warning message "slow charging" - and then phone takes forever to charge.

I have tried swapping cables, charging bricks, everything, nothing seems to change - it invariably still takes forever.

In the past, I would charge it only at night - now I leave it connected to power all day long.

I am guessing that there's nothing I do, the phone and the battery are just getting old. (And I'm sure Samsung would rather I just bought a new phone in any event!)

Grateful for any feedback,

I wonder if any of the points—this poster suggested—might also apply to your A53 ?

Recently, a few of the hundreds upon hundreds of 'prime days' AC News threads here 🙄, a few weeks back, were advertising/promoting usb-c charging cables that have a little LCD screen on one of the plug-ends, that supposedly shows the wattage coming thru the cable - and into the device.
I ordered one, but it looked kinda gimmicky to me, as what it showed—i forget exactly what it showed 🤔🙄—didn't make any sense.
But using the Samsung charging plug & cable does make sense, to me - for fast charging.

If it's not dirt, Battery is probably cooked if neither quality aftermarket or true original Samsung chargers and cables don't charge it.

As far as the toothbrush, be careful, they can lift pads. Just go slow and don't rub back and forth, slow, light sweeping motion in one direction at a time.

@winmod21 I have a similar USB-C adapter and works as advertised. Actually helped me discover a USB-C hub wasn't passing through the advertised power and of the brick. However that won't tell you if the device is bad, it's more to see how much is being pulled. It will only confirm what the phone is asking, not much more useful than showing the wattage in OPs case.

A can of air can help as well, as long as you very carefully make sure there's no moisture spraying out first, by doing some gentle e.g. half-trigger pulls.

👍 Makes sense, and nice that yours worked. I'll have to try mine again.
