Problem with HDMI Razr to TV running ICS

I have the Motorola micro-HDMI to HDMI cable. I'm connected to a Vizio TV with HDMI input and other devices connect just fine through both HDMI ports. I have tried every possible sequence of connections and the Vizio consistently shows "no connection" status. Most recently I have been powering off both Razr and TV, then first booting the Razr, then starting the TV.
When the phone boots, it displays an "HDMI cable connected" message and the display flips 90 degrees as expected. I have checked the HDMI settings (accessed from the home screen menu) and all seem OK.
When I was running GB, and possibly the earlier ICS version, I seem to remember a menu popping up when the HDMI was properly connecting. I don't see that now. I do know that earlier at some point I had no problem connecting.
I doubt it's the cable or the TV. Could someone please venture a guess as to what is wrong?
Thank you.
Frank

It's a longshot, but check the phone's HDMI port and make sure it isn't filled with gunk. It's relatively common for lint and other junk to get stuck in the headphone jack (since we often shove our phones in our pockets), and this can cause problems with headphone audio. So it's possible that lint stuck in the HDMI port could be partially messing up the connection. Use some compressed air to blow out the port, then try again.

When I went to the Verizon store that's the first thing they thought of although I agreed with you it would be a longshot. She used toothbrush and compressed air, plugged it into their monitor and everything was fine. Of course I pleaded with them to try it on the TV first. I now think it would have worked fine also because I have been suspicious of the Vizio TV all along. Of course it didn't work when I got it home.
I am going to try another cable because other devices are recognized by the TV. I wonder if the Vizio requires an input strength that is slightly higher than most so with the 25' thin cable it just can't handshake. I will try a 6' and reply back. (I am aware that "strength" probably isn't the right word for digital.)

That's a good idea. The longer an HDMI cable is, the more signal attenuation there is. If it still doesn't work with a 6 ft cable, then there's probably something screwy with the Vizio TV. You could also test out your phone by bringing it and an HDMI cable to your local Best Buy or other electronics store, and just ask the sale person if you could hook up your phone to a TV and see how well it works. If you tell them you're shopping around for a TV, I'm sure they'll let you.
