Problem with Hearing Voice calls because where Speaker is...

After using my Note 10+ for a few weeks I noticed when I took calls with the handset I could barely hear the person on the other end. Then I realized the damn speaker is ON TOP of the phone. I think this was a bad move and I find myself literally moving the whole phone vertical to my ear so I stick that little speaker ( yes, it is VERY tiny ) right to my ear. Anyone else have this issue?

Thats why some cases are loose on the top. To bounce sound out...

I use an OtterBox Defender case. I've been getting very good call quality while using my Note 10 Plus.

I understand where you guys are coming from but you are justifying a $1000 phone to rely on a $50 case to sound better? Really, that tiny pinhole of a speaker really doesn't emit anything of sound quality at all, how can it? It's a pinhole. Physical characteristics of a pinhole size speaker is not going to give you any good sound quality. I thought it was maybe just my phone but I was able to test 3 other Note 10 +'s and all had that low volume, low quality sound coming from that pinhole. Give this a little read. Tells you all about what that hole is and how the speaker grill easily gets covered up. Most Note cases cover the grill up, except for Samsung cases most likely.

UPDATE:

So I took off my Pitaka case and the sound was much better. Apparently the Pitaka case covered the top speaker 'grill' that is forward facing to the user. I was unaware there was a speaker there since you can barely see it. If you look real close right above the sensor there is a grill and that oblong hole at the top is just a passive pathway from the grill speaker and is not a real speaker itself. I hope the cases I ordered to test out won't interfere with the top speaker grill. I wish the Note 10+ had Apple's sound capabilities. Live and learn.

I understand your frustration. I have OCD. At first it annoys me. So a few cases which i can confirm to be working well is the Samsung Official Bumper case, the free case included, UAG Monarch, Ringke Fusion X, Supcase UB Style, Element Soul, Pitaka Aramid, Otterbox Defender, Otterbox Symmetry and Supcase UB Pro. Those are the cases i have bought and they work well.

Have you tried the Otter Commuter? That case looks good and with a great grip on the sides. I also have the Samsung Rugged coming tomorrow.

Sadly i dont have the Commuter. The Samsung Rugged is excellent. Its very good at keeping dust away too.

Noticed when I 1st got my note 10+.
I wasn't hearing it very well myself.
After i kept using it, settings the phone up to how it fits me.
It seemed like it started changing.
It started getting better.
The earpiece started getting louder and plainer.
I could hear it better.

When you are on the phone, try using the keys and turning up the volume with the buttons too.

I'm hard or hearing.
And I can hear it well.

To be clear the sound for calls is coming from a speaker grill across the entire upper portion of the phone. It is small but the pin hole on top of the phone is a secondary speaker not the call audio speaker. Look carefully and you'll see the grill.
