I previously took photos of documents on my old Lenovo 10 tablet and sent (shared) them to my Gmail email. The jpg images are very clear in my old Android 10 tablet. I threw away the paper documents after taking the photos.

But the characters are distorted when viewing on my Lenovo Android 13 tablet.

I'm accessing the photos by clicking on them in my Gmail email.

Please advise. Thank you.

In Gmail, tap the photo so that it goes fullscreen. Then tap the 3-dot menu button at the upper right, and then Save to Photos (or Save to Drive, if you prefer).

Ok, I followed your instructions and saved one of my jpg images to photos. But I couldn't find where it's stored in photos, even though the tablet confirmed that it was saved in photos. Please advise. Thank you.

Google Photos by default puts images in chronological order, do you remember when the photos were taken?

Google uses metadata to store items by creation date. If you were to import an image into a photo editor or something and save it as new, it would appear at the top of the list as a recent/new image because it would be dated today/the day it was last edited, but since you just resaved the same file, it has its original date in the metadata and will appear in your list under that date.

Another way to find it might be to use your phone's file manager. Sorry I don't know Lenovo, but many file managers are generically named "Files" or "My Files" in your app drawer. These apps usually show recent changes or additions when you first open them. They can also help find things by allowing you to search by name, which you can get by looking at the attachment. If you saved to the cloud vs the Google Photos app on the device, you will have to grant your file manager app permission to access your Photos account.

These would be the steps.
Steps to Access Google Photos via Lenovo File Manager:
  1. Open Google Photos: Open the Google Photos app on your Lenovo device.
  2. Enable Backup: Tap your profile picture > Turn on backup.
  3. Check Permissions: Go to your device Settings > Apps > Google Photos > Permissions to ensure "Photos" and "Media" (or "Storage") access is granted.
  4. Use Files by Google: Open the Files app (pre-installed on most Lenovo devices) to view local photos, which will now sync with Google Photos cloud storage.
Let us know what you find.

In addition, Google Photos has a very powerful search option, so if you searched for "document" in Google Photos, it would likely come up.

Since these are photos of documents, it'd probably be better to upload them to Google Drive rather than Photos, now that I think of it.
