Problem with Moto X 2nd Gen shutting off and starting it up again...

Issues 1:
The phone powers off at random times whenever the battery gets below 40%---sometimes at 40%, other times it will wait until it gets down to 5%. Sometimes I get the low battery warning and can plug-in before it shuts down, other times it just shutdown with zero warning.

Main Issue:
Once I try to restart, the phone goes thru Optimizing Apps, and that can take as long as a 1/2 hour. The phone is running the latest version of lollipop 5.1, and that is the latest version available from Verizon/Motorola.

Is there anything I can do to stop the optimizing?

Try wiping the cache partition: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/101078/p/30,6720,9197. If that doesn't work, try Safe Mode: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/101070/p/30,6720,9197.

If the problem persists, then I'd suspect a failing battery. You'd have to bring it to a repair shop to replace (or look online for DIY videos, if you want to try it yourself).
