Hi
New here but here's a question...
For a few years I have used the native mail app to send and receive from my main email account, at virgin. Now, they won't let you smtp off network (phone on vodofone) so ... I fetch the email through pop (virgin) and reply or send via my gmail account (smtp). My gmail is set up so that mails from my gmail account look like they are from virgin. If someone replies, it is automatically sends to my main virgin account. Why? I like having one main archive and one main account. so I just use gmail to send and it gets aliased as my virgin account (you set this up through the gmail options.)
Just upgraded from a desire to a HTC One and it doesn't work any more! Always get authentication failed despite the authentication check working during setup.
Gmail app works fine.
Solution ... I've switched to K9 and that is quite happy to pop the virgin account and smtp through gmail account. No problem at all (and its substantially faster!).
So the question, has anybody else noticed this? The native mail app does not work and needs a fix, it just will not send through a different smtp server? Although it asks for smtp details and password, when sending, it uses the password entered for the pop account regardless of what you set up. I have now proved this by temporarily changing my gmail password to that of my virgin account, and now the native mail app works! The app ignores the smtp password, quite a fundamental bug?
I'd like to change it back but google won't let me use an old password.

And .. there isn't a manual refresh option. You can set frequency to manual, but theres no button to actually manually refresh, only an option to refresh if you close and reopen it. Unless you know better that is?

You can manually refresh by touching and pulling down the screen.
