Problem with stock keyboard after AT&T 4.0.4 Android push

Since AT&T's latest 4.0.4 push, the stock keyboard's predictive text no longer automatically corrects misspellings in-line. It shows the possible corrections under the text entry box but it no longer inserts corrections automatically, it just keeps the misspelled word.

Anyone have a solution? At one point, I have had all the options checked under the keyboard but nothing I've tried in the options seems to help.

Sorry for the thread jack, but why would you want the phone to pick words for you? Never did understand that. Making a suggestion is cool, I just pick the one I like or keep what I typed. It does have little time savers like turning i to I and im to I'm. Getting choices on how to complete a word also saves keystrokes when texting at, say, 90 mph.

BBrefugee,

I'm interested in corrections to misspellings that are unavoidable with improper finger landing on touch screen surfaces. It's certainly not 100% but it's definitely a help.

Thanks,

The good news is there are many keyboards to choose from in the play store, and the odds are pretty good one of them is a both free and lot better for you than the stock one.

Swiftkey 3 is the best solution.. try it for 30 days for free and see how you like it

I use jellybean keyboard from the app store and have found it to work better for me than swift key. Much more responsive and supports theming.

More responsive? I'll have to try it. SwiftKey 3 is extremely responsive for me. Jelly bean paid keyboard right?

Yes, and it is very responsive. Swift key slightly pauses from time to time when I get typing really fast. While the auto correct is slightly below par to swift key I prefer having the responsiveness of the jellybean keyboard.

I like perfect keyboard as well. I am recently beta testing TouchPal keyboard and it is showing a lot of promise. Works nicely.
