Problem with the top display showing battery being ghosted after update on my Samsung Galaxy S3

I performed an update to my Samsung galaxy S3 last night. As soon as it started up again the display at the top of my screen showing the battery, connection and date are ghosted. Everything else seems to be fine but it is very annoying since it is difficult to see how much battery life I have left. Is there a way to fix this

Is it consistent across all apps and home screens? If it is, it's possible that it's a hardware issue, in which case you'd have to get it repaired by your carrier or Samsung.
