Problem with wired headsets

I don't know if my phone is odd or if other people have this problem.

If I have a wired headset plugged in before I start a call the other person can hear me just fine. If I start the call talking into the phone and then plug the headset in during the call the person always complaints that I suddenly sound horrible. If I hang up and call back I'm back (now with the headset plugged in) in good shape.

So basically, I can't plug the headset in mid call, which is frustrating.

Anyone else experience this?

I was having this problem before i rooted. Then after i rooted the problem disappeared.

I'm not sure if I had the problem before I rooted or not, but I am currently rooted and I know I have it.
