problems after installing ics

BOO to meetings!!!!!!!!! Be right back i have a meeting lol

Amen to that (boo to meetings!) And boo to long drives downtown. DPS could have given 1,000 tickets today. People were super aggressive for a Thursday! Maybe they were all trying to get home to download ICS! LOL!

P.S. So far no problems for me on ICS (with the exception of my calender, which I configured a work around when I got my ICS tablet back in April). Hope you are out of your meeting now too!

Did OTA. ON reboot Got to white HTC screen. Been there for over an hour. Don't know what to do.

Should I pull battery and restart?

That's the issue. When I long press on my home screen and choose apps, "phone" or even "Dialer" is not listed.

I can only find the phone app by going to Setting/Apps/All. It's there but I can get it to the home screen via this method.

I see there are other people having the same issue on another forum per the post a few back.

Can anyone here confirm they can find the Phone app when they long press the homescreen and then search the apps?

Thanks for all the help.

JSE, go to your app drawer and long press on the phone app and it will automatically add it to your home screen, then you can drag and drop from there.

It's not there when I long press and choose Apps. That's the whole problem.

The only way to find the app in to go into Settings/Apps/All. You can find it there but there is no way to long press onto the home screen or any other screen. There is not option for this when you long press it under Settings/Apps/All.

The bottom line is the app is on the phone but not in the app drawer where it needs to be to get it onto the home screen or any other screen.

Here is a screen shot of my App drawer. NADA!

Oh, not good..Do a complete reset. If this does not fix the issue you will need to wait until someone posts the RUU and flash it manually. If you take the phone to Verizon they will do a reset or send you a new phone.

Have you restarted the phone?

Yep, several times. But, what the hell, I'll try again. Hopefully you transferred some good Mojo with your post. Finger's crossed.......again.

Really don't want to do a factory reset unless I have to. Probably wait for someone to come up with a fix. At least there is the "People" work around mentioned before.

Update: Restart still got me NADA!

Over at XDA someone mentioned this.....

"Long press on your screen... select 'shortcuts'...... then select 'activities'.... then scroll down to 'phone'... then select 'phone'. That should do it for you. "

Didn't work for me but maybe it will work for someone here?

With the above procedure, I don't have "activities" after choosing "Shortcuts". Bummer. I guess that might be another/related problem.

Ok so if you have Desktop Visualizer I found you can make a shortcut to it by creating a widget, then setting it to open an application and it is in that list. So it can at least be on a screen just not in the dashboard. That is the only way I have found it.

Sorry for my lack of good mojo :(

Obviously you got an un-complete install, if you have no phone app there would have to be other things that didn't come through, issues that you will find the hard way as time goes on. My opinion...

No problem.

You might be right about other things not being there.

Is there any way to "re-update" ICS?

Wondering, when you go into Setting/Apps/All and long press Phone, there is an option to clear data. Does this clear things like contacts, ringtones, etc? Or is this just things like call history, missed calls etc?

I want to clear data to see if maybe that would solve the issue but don't want to wipe out all my contact info.

Any thoughts?

I considered doing that but got scared and decided against it. Post your results if it works, but like I said I am also missing call history so I think the incomplete install might be correct.

I cant log into Facebook after the OTA ICS update. I log in, it starts to sync with contacts and it logs me back out. I have rebooted, battery pull, changed to extended battery, installed all Facebook updates and reinstalled and still wont stay logged in.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I got scared as well.

I Triple Dog Dare You!!! :p

I think I have done it before actually when I got rid of that backup assistant business. My data is only about 20 kbs so I don't think much will happen. I have everything else backed up to my google account. It might just clear call history at this point.
