problems after installing ics

this happened again tonight, about the same time. This time I did a power button reboot. I don't have time to muck around with a factory reboot right now as going out of town with limited internet access.

isn't there some "quiet time" setting somewhere? maybe that is the culprit. If no one else is having the problem, I guess that's good ,,, for everyone but me.

Maybe not what you are looking for, but a suggestion...

Settings - WiFi - menu button - Advanced ... I use the high performance setting and never let WiFi sleep. Adding screenshot below.

I had the missing Phone dialer button and it was running hot with only a couple hours of battery life. I finally broke down and tried the Factory Reset.

I ran a full backup of all apps and all app data using My Backup Pro. Factory Reset using the menus (Settings > Storage > Factory Default Settings). I went through the setup where I added my google account, etc., but tried to do as little as possible.

This appears to have fixed it, since I now have a Phone button on the bottom left. I don't really like it as much as the old design, but I'll live with it. Restoring now with My Backup Pro. I'll provide an update here when that's complete.

You really shouldn't restore apps that way, it might be OK, but if you have any problems I would factory default again via hboot and reinstall all the apps manually... Restoring them often just puts the problem right back into the phone. Using MyBackup for stuff like other "stuff" is fine, but not for apps when going across OS upgrades, they should be reinstalled.

Now, if you were going from GB to GB or ICS to ICS it should be fine, but there is such a major difference on the app side of things between GB and ICS, the app's installation scripts and settings can be very different for the two.

Yeah, I considered that. Since my apps all seemed to be working fine on ICS I figured it's more of an ICS to ICS. All that being said... You're right. Many of my apps didn't show up in the OS, even though the restore of them was successful.

So I'm resetting again and planning to reinstall everything from Google Play and Amazon Appstore. This is what I was afraid of, when I was reluctant to reset... sigh.

Don't forget in the Play Store, once your phone has connected to the Play Store once, you can log into your Google Account and go the Play Store via a PC and go to My Applications and just click INSTALL on all the ones you want to reinstall and they will get pushed to your phone. Just remember to run each one at least once to allow the installation to finish or they could stay running in memory waiting for input and drain your battery quite quickly (TweetDeck was one app that had a real problem with this for a while).

The only issue I had after the OTA was duplicate apps in all apps of the Verizon backup. One is and outdated version but cant stop or remove even after hard reset. Called them but no answer really. Smooth otherwise.

Yeah, I have that too on the phone with the OTA... seems to me if you look at the two entries, one has zero size (or something funky that stands out), just disable that one and all is good, or better yet, just disable all the the VZW bloatware.

One of mine has like 8kb and the other I can tell is the more up to date one. One is version 1.00 I think and the other is 1.0.88. I had some issues with the phone when I disabled some of the verizon apps even the NFL one which is theirs. They told me they are system apps that will and in have caused problems. I noticed problems like texting opening when I press a letter or try scrolling etc. Just little bugs and that was only disabling the nfl and blockbuster apps

They put a new user manual on the site but vague really when it comes to features and app disabling. Oh my Verizon backup says i am out of space to back anything up yet online i am using next to nothing of the free space they give
