Problems after update

I fully understand the potential for bugs while on a beta, I think we're all just stating that this issue is potentially wide spread on locked At&t devices after a system update and no user troubleshooting will fix it.

Definitely understand that , its why I'm trying help figure out the potential cause , If I was having this issue I would definitely revert back to official version to see if it goes away and reboot the device. I understand wanting a feature or play with it before becomes available but staying in a beta app for long haul not ideal for me .

I am not on the beta version. I just think at&t is messing around with messages for there own reasons and it is not helping. They should just leave well enough alone. Or wait until they have all he bugs worked out before pushing this on people.

You have carrier firmware with Att version google message i can see them butcher that up , unlocked with Att google message by vibe no issues.

I have the same problem on t-mobile S22U. it’s only with the messages app that I get any lag. Right now I’m just going to wait and see if it gets any better over the next few weeks.

Try long press the app then tap info , at the top right screen 3 dots uninstall the update and see how it is before allowing it to update again

Do you get read receipts and typing indicators. With lock at&t s22 phones? With my unlocked S22+ i was unable to get them with other locked S22 phones. All others were fine. That's why I switched to an at&t locked phone. My wife's phone is locked at&t, so it was annoying.

FWIW: With my Verizon phone and Messages Beta and all the latest updates to phone and app. I have the switches for all options now.

I still do not see typing indicators from iPhone users even if the other person has it on. I think I see typing if chatting with another Android user who has it on, but not sure.

I see read indicator only for the last message while in a chat. Once I exit back to the main list, any read indicator disappears and does not return if I go back into the thread. In other words the "read" indicator is transient only until I exit or type another reply. That may be normal behavior?

Google message app? I'm unlocked Att and have it , on Samsung Att and TMobile never had rcs but carrier firmware did

I'm on an at&t locked S22U, just did the update the other day after seeing it was available and didn't get an alert about it, I haven't had any issues with the Google messages that came on the phone at all, and I'm on the stock version that came with the phone

Yep I'm running the latest version of Google messages on my factory unlocked pixel with AT&T, and it's working flawlessly, including RCS. I haven't noticed any AT&T interference at all.... it's using jibe through Google and I just update it through the playstore. It seems like when the carriers get involved in the software on the carrier branded phones the problems start... either they disable stock apps to try and get you to pay them for the same thing, or they want to meddle with the apps to "improve" them, mainly it seems to get more personal data out of you, and get you to rely more on their particular "flavor" of that app, to keep you buying their carrier branded/controlled phones. Plus the bloatware

That's why I stopped buying carrier branded phones many, many years ago
