Problems getting Facebook to work on new (pre-loved) Samsung Galaxy S3

I'm moving from my old GS2 to a pre-loved GS3. The GS3 has been reset etc. I put the Facebook app on the GS3 and signed in but it's like it's a brand new account. There's nothing, no friends, no timeline etc? Does anyone know what's going on?

Welcome to Android Central! This is pretty elementary, but you're sure you don't have two separate but similar-sounding Facebook account names? Maybe you accidentally logged into a secondary account that you never or hardly ever use.
