Problems placing icons on home screen

When I try to place an icon, my home screens go bezerk and force me to a new blank page at the far right of the screens. I can't force it back to any of the other pages to pinpoint exactly where I want to place the app icon. I'm on the stock launcher running the stock firmware.

Any ideas?

Are the other homescreens full of shortcuts already, or relatively empty?

They are very full. Trying to pinpoint in one or two open spaces.

Thanks for the tip, though. I did clear the cache and perhaps that is helping a little as I have had some more luck in getting icons where I want.

You can always add another home screen if you are out of free space on your current screens. As an alternative, create a folder and place some like apps or widgets into that folder; will take only one space on the screen.
