Problems with Android 4.1.1 on Samsung G S3

I was really enjoying my Samsung Galaxy S3. Then the other day along comes this OTA software upgrade. I downloaded it. Now, with the screen brightness set to maximum, when I look at my emails, the display is much dimmer than it was before. Only on email however. Gmail still comes in a full brightness. This only happened after the download so I am assuming this was caused by the upgrade.I have tried everything but I can't get the emails to be bright like before. Has anyone else experienced this or am I the only sucker?

I don't have the update so I'm guessing but does the email app have its on brightness setting like the browser?

I take it you have power saving mode disabled?
