Problems with calendar reminders

I have a pretty odd issue with Google calendar reminders that I just can't seem to fix!

I use Digical as my calendar app. I have that, and all other calendar apps on my phone setup so that by default I do not receive notifications or reminders for calendar events. Importantly, I have also removed all reminders and notifications from my Google calendar setup as well (through my actual calendar settings on the web).

Despite these efforts, when I create a new calendar event in digical, eventually, that event always ends up with a reminder attached to it! It's the darnedest thing.

Here's what makes this even weirder. If I use the Google calendar app to create an event, no reminder shows up in that app. Yet, after a few minutes, on the calendar app that came with my device AND digical will show a reminder icon! In digical, the reminder is set for an SMS 15 minutes before hand, and in the stock calendar app, no reminder actually shows up when I open the event (but, a reminder icon does appear when I am viewing an overview of the calendar)

I am completely at a loss for how to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you cycled through your settings to ensure notifications are enabled on your applications including Calendar? On Google Calendar under ... / settings / general settings on the bottom Notifications should be enabled and default reminder should be set to the amount of default time you request. Also if you are on 4.1+ and you have Google Now, cycle through the settings to have everything you want that shows up on there enabled. That would also include your calendar events and reminders to be shown as a card on Google Now.

I am sure I have disabled all notifications and reminders from all possible sources.

Is there anyone who uses Digical as their daily calendar app who has experienced this issue as well?

Thanks for the reply. I emailed DigiCal tech support yesterday with a summary of the issue. I'll post back with their response when I receive it.

Just a quick update on this issue. DigiCal technical support (which has been very helpful) told me that the only source for the SMS reminder is Google calendar.

Oddly, though, I have not configured Google calendar for SMS reminders, and I've reported this back to DigiCal. So, from my end, it still seems like DigiCal is adding the SMS reminder, or at least inheriting it from somewhere else.

This is an odd mystery indeed. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the bottom of it.

I'm not getting the SMS issue, but I don't have Google Calendar on my phone. Just get the 15 minutes reminder.
