I've tried to update my LG V10 about 5 times now. I get the download from Verizon but when I go to start the update, I get an error code 402 and it won't update. Help?

Yeah. I've tried just about everything short of a factory reset.

I'm not too familiar with that. I guess I have to install the software from my phone to the computer?

Is your phone rooted? Have you removed some of the carrier bloat that was originally uninstallable?

It isn't. I sent off an email to LG to see what they say.

Are you seeing any reference to Err. 0x11110004?

Error 402 is a general software mismatch. It means when it checked the software on your phone, it didn't find what was expected. Make sure you didn't disable or uninstall any of the bloatware. If you're sure you haven't, reboot in safe mode and try to update again.

If you're also seeing any reference to Err. 0x11110004, that's bad news. That usually means the error was caused by faulty memory and the update package was unable to have it's MD5 checked. The only fix for that is a new phone.

I'll check the bloat ware. I'm sure hoping that's it.

Not familiar with that one. I'll see what I can find out in the morning.

It didn't come up that code but it came up with Err. 0x1123004.

OK, that error code usually means the update package saw system files that weren't supposed to be there. In most cases, that means root (the su binary and/or busybox symlinks are in place).

I mentioned that this user (meaning you) says they haven't modified their software, and my LG tech friend suggested you contact your carrier to begin any warranty procedures.

Wish I had better news.

Just as a quick update. I have the replacement phone from LG today. It updated to Marshmallow with no problems. Of course I have to get the phone tweaked back to the way I like it.
