Problems with Google Camera Especially When Taking Panoramas and Photo Spheres

Hi,

I have a Nexus 4 running stock 4.4.4. No root. I have been having terrible issues using the Google camera app on my phone. The app freezes constantly when taking panoramas and photo spheres. In the middle of taking a photo sphere, the app will just crash and take me back to the home screen, but there will be no prompt or anything showing that the camera crashed. I have also had the home screen being redrawn (refreshed) multiple times after this happens. I have lost lots of good pictures because of this as these crashes happen even when there are panoramas or photo spheres being processed in the background. Has anyone faced similar issues and have you found a fix?

Have you tried going to Settings>Apps>All, selecting Camera, and Clearing Cache and Data, then Force Stopping?

Try also booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the system cache partition: Reset: Google Nexus 4 | T-Mobile Support

Thanks. I tried that but it doesn't look like the problem's fixed. Has anybody faced similar problems?

I've noticed Photosphere freaks out on my phone if I try to take one that's too large (if that makes any sense). It will fail to stitch the images together and crash, and then I'll have dozens of partial photos in my gallery that I have to delete. The general camera app, however, has never given me problems. If clearing the cache didn't do any good, try a different camera app and see what happens.

I have this problem too, it also crashed on me when switching from regular mode to hdr or regular to panoramic or photosphere my phone crashes so many times

Did you find a solution to your problem? Recently my problems seem to have gotten worse. Now my phone reboots after I take a couple of pictures with the Google camera app.

No I haven't nor have a clue besides waiting for an update with a fix,
Oh yeah mine crashed too when switching between modes then reboot the phone by itself

Seems like some Nexus 4s are full of software bugs yet some others work just fine. I wish there was some way to get official Google comment on this camera issue and the unresponsive screen issue people seem to be having. At least some acknowledgement or possibility of a fix would give hope.
I have had other issues too. The battery life on my Nexus 4 is horrendous to say the least. Using this phone for the last year and a half has been extremely frustrating.

Hi,

Solution for me was to wait before moving camera and taking next shot until previous shot appears. Else, app gets "overwhelmed" (read giroscope, load picture, take picture) and crashes.
