Hi guys,

I live in Israel. I Bought Chromecast with Google TV and I have some problem.

Due to bad internet connection on my house and country, I have problems to stream apps like Netflix and PLEX, It doesn't stream smoothly like I watch on my laptop for example.

My main use is to watch movies that I'm downloading in my compute with subtitles I'm adding. Is there another solution to watch movies and Cetra directly throw the streamer and not via PLEX and Cetra?

The second question, I'm assuming that if ill connect the strimmer and the laptop directly to the Internet cable things will improve. The problem is I'm in my room and connecting to the Wi-Fi in the living room. I have the cable company equipment here also but I don’t really know what he does. But I think some of them connect the device to the internet.

I'm adding pics of my equipment. I'll be happy if you could help me.

Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify -- are you talking about the Chromecast with Google TV device, or do you have a standalone Chromecast device? Or are you talking about a 3rd party Android TV box?

Thank you.

Yes, sorry, my bad. I have the Chromecast with Google TV device.

If you're streaming the movies from your computer, are you using the Cast feature in Chrome? https://chromecastappstips.com/chromecast-windows-media-player/

Which router (brand and model) do you have? (I can't tell from the photo if that's your router or modem.) You might be able to log into its settings and see if there'a an option to prioritize certain activities or devices.

I only have this device for a few days, i've tried to cast only via PLEX and used the apps on the streamer like netflix, youtube and cetra. the raouter is in the living room. In the pics it's aint a router. like iv'e said i don't really know what that is, the cable company conect it to their convector in order that i can use the VOD on it. its somehow supplies internet although i dont have a place for an internet exit in my room, some kind of combination. I can't rely like iv'e said on the WI-FI, cuse he's very poor here and there is no good solution for that, it's a country problem. Hopefully that few years from now most of the country will have the option to conect to fiber internet.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "streamer." Do you have some separate streaming media box?

Are you saying that your home wi-fi network is unreliable? That may be a function of the router you have, and how well it covers your home. A quick recap of how internet gets delivered to your home -- you typically connect the coaxial cable (it looks like your internet is delivered via cable) to a modem, which decodes the signal. The modem then connects to a router, which is the entry point to your home network. Most routers have wi-fi capability as well as Ethernet, so you can connect either wirelessly via wi-fi or using an Ethernet connection. Chromecast with Google TV works exclusively over wi-fi, so it requires a strong wi-fi signal. If you're having trouble with the signal, you need to make sure the router isn't too far from the Chromecast, and isn't blocked by a lot of material that could interfere with the signal (like walls).

In addition, if your internet plan has relatively low maximum speeds (anything <10 Mbps), that could also lead to worse performance, because speeds can fluctuate due to traffic in your area, and speeds can also fall off the farther you are from the router.
