Problems with second-hand Note 4

I've changed my security settings to pin number but it is still only swiping to unlock.

Also when I put it to charge the battery icon would come onscreen, it would vibrate briefly, then turn off again. I have the correct charger for it.

Return it, if only because of the battery/charging problem.

It's either got a faulty battery, they only last about 18 months, or you need to reflash it with the latest updates. Which isn't trivial.
