Problems with WiFi connection

When I use WiFi sometimes it loses connection then when I restart the device it works OK for a short time then it starts to lose connection again. I heard someone mention the proxy settings on the WiFi connection where I went to the advanced settings and from proxy settings I selected none, and connects OK, and somehow it reverts back to the original setting of manual, how can I get the setting to stay at none
