Processes running... running and Task Killers in a Nexus 4 with OS 4.3

Let's say I've replied to an email, then go on to edit a photo, then have a look in BBC news or Android Central. When done, I close each one of these and move on. Aha! When checking AVG Performance or Clean Master or Settings or my "Du" battery app, there are processes [lots of them] running-running. Am I missing something, or is this the nature of the beast?

It's the nature of the beast; that's how Android was designed. Don't worry about it, and don't use task killers.
