Did you ever install Blackhole ROM per chance? It actually has that rectangle over the Verizon as the boot animation (black hole...get it? ) but I would think Odin would nuke that. How long have you let it sit before turning it off? First boot can take a while.

You have a recovery? Stock or cwm?

Do you happen to remember which Voodoo kernel you flashed?

I'll do that as soon as I get the chance thx for that. I'm starting to nail down this I think. Each time I redo the Odin flash to stock I get the little rectangle to go away more and more. I'm not going to be bested by this phone. I will prevail!

good attitude. try formating your sd card(if you cant boot use a pc adapter card thingie). then reflash via odin. however it sounds like a hardware problem to me. i dont think you did that though. i cant see how a couple of wrong flashes did that. Lord knows i have bricked my phone enough and have always been able to get it working again. i certinly have not damaged any hardware. i think you just have a bad phone, timing is coincidannce. dont forget to flash back to stock DI01 before you mail it back, even if it wont boot up.

oh, well. just thought i saw another kernel listed. i try and look to see what every one is running. i like to try out everything.
