Pros and cons of Gmail vs Samsung Email

Can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of using the Gmail app over the Samsung email app and vise versa?

I have two Gmail accounts and currently use the Gmail app. It can be a pain having sync on all the time to receive emails so was thinking about switching to Samsung email app for both my Gmail aliases.

Can any one provide some insight?

For the Gmail app you can turn off sync so you can just manually fetch. Just do so under accounts and Uncheck Gmail.

I personally just like the Gmail app versus the Samsung one. That way if I leave Samsung I am used to the Gmail app. I don't think there really is to much advantage.

as said above, you can turn off gmail sync and check email manually.

The advantages I see in Samsung mail, is the fact it supports multiple type of emails, gmail, yahoo, exchange.

Also, samsung email is slightly darker in UI, which saves some battery.

Personally, I use aqua mail, supports all types of email, and has a black background.

I like the Gmail app but not the Gmail web version. BUT, I like folders such as in Outlook. Labels sort your email but still leaves the mess behind. Gmail? Prettier. Outlook? More functional. Stock email app it is.

I use the stock email app as it supports adding attachments natively. Last I checked/used the Gail app, native attachment was not there.

That Sync has nothing to do with pushing or fetching mail. It syncs your accounts so if you delete an email on your computer, you don't have to delete it on the phone too. Turn off notifications in gmail app settings to manually fetch mail.

The gmail app is nice, but your messages are threaded in conversation view, which I hate, and it can't be changed. That said, the stock SamDung mail app is really poor and laggy, so the the gmail app seems to be the lesser of two evils.

So, the stock Samsung email app does NOT force Conversation View? That is very appealing to me. What is the specific downside of the Samsung email app?

No, it doesn't, but the stock Samsung app is laggy...very laggy on certain things, like MS Exchange. I dumped it in favor of Nine Folders (paid app), which has the identical look and feel as the Gmail app, but works on Exchange. It can be setup in conversation view, or message view, unlike the Gmail app, which bugs me no end.

Actually this can be changed in your Gmail settings. I don't remember where it is but if you go to your gmail on your PC it would be easier to find any way.

That's right from the help file in Gmail. I tried changing it on the Web but that only changes the web version.

You can change it in the web browser application using a PC. You can not change it in the Android Gmail app. Not that I have ever found.
