im really stuck between the two phones.

which one has the most potential to be a greater phone?

which one has the better roms/ rooting/ and is easier to use?

i have had both and im really leaning towards the thunderbolt but the the specs on the spectrum are looking pretty good. that being said the UI on the spectrum looks and feels like it was done by a monkey with down syndrome .

so if anyone has any input on this please help me out on a decision.

or if you have any other options as far as a type of phone i would like, i would really appreciate the input!!!

It's a tough one to answer objectivly because I've never used the Spectrum, but I'll answer from the Bolt's perspective.

Because of the developer support, I think the Bolt is the better phone. Trter has given us a foolproof root tool, and there are 20+ ROMs available to flash that are so good, I have a tough time sticking with just one.

Now, I'm saying this as a guy that has next to no problems with my Bolt since I got it a month after launch. The last OTA made it a little wonky, but thanks to the Devs, it now runs better than I could hope. However, there are people that have gotten bad Bolts and will tell you that they hate this phone, and I'm sure they're ready to chuck it at the wall. I think if you could get one new, it would be worth it. My wife has a Nexus, and after messing around with it quite a bit, I don't see anything hers can do that mine can't. As a matter of fact, my radios are better than hers (I get 12 Mbps down, and 5 up on average from the house, while she gets 5 down and 1 up), which makes me reluctant to ever buy a Sammy. Further, I'm so happy with mine that I'm in no hurry to upgrade/there's no phone out right now that I really want.

mmhhhmmmm... thanks for the input. im already in the bolts corner so this is only making me want to get another one. i recently bricked my last one and it wont even charge a battery let alone turn on.

i couldn't find any help

Gnex has a not so good radio. GSIII has a much better radio, in my experience, way better than the tbolt. I never got over 30mbps on my TBolt, on my gs3, i have gotten over 60mbps on several occasions, and over 30mbps almost daily.

I honestly don't know where I went wrong with it. One day I pulled it off the charger and it started going through this boot cycle. I tried to flash a different Rom, fix permission, and wipe cache and it still kept rebooting. Finally I left it alone for a while and picked it up slapped a battery in it and it started working. I had already upgraded to the spectrum by this point. I went to charge it, all seemed good. I went to pull it off thinking everything was good and it started to go through the cycle again. I h boot into recovery but it won't let me it just re boots. And now it won't turn on, it won't charge, it wont even h boot to white screen. I even bought a new battery thinking it would work and it didn't. I tried pluggi.g the charger into the phone first and then putting in the battery but that didn't work. I'm out of ideas.

I explained a lot of it in a post but for the most part I honestly think its a hardware problem.

Tbolt, simply because we are comparing very old phones and I personally hate lg's UI. I believe the bolt has more support and it is still supposed to get the ICS update. Not sure if the spectrum will ever get ICS?

Yes I too cought wind of this. I was so excited for the bolt. The lg's UI does completly suck. So when I saw mine fall and bounce down the concrete steps at qualcomm stadium last week all I did was smile. but I'm still out of a phone. :'(

lolololol this made me laugh, maybe its because i havent slept yet and it's 7:30 but i think it was because it's funny hahahaha

Same here, I was rolling with laughter when I read that because it's true! :p That UI is bad! Even AC's review mentions it: LG Spectrum review - Verizon gets another decent second-gen LTE phone | Android Central

Myself, I'd definitely choose the Thunderbolt over the Spectrum! Besides that UI, I can't get past the ugliness of most of LG's phones! Thunderbolt is easy to root (thanks to trter10-2's All In One Tool!) and does have a lot of custom ROMS and dev support. And if ICS does get released for it, I?m sure there will be some new ones added. :)
