What are the pros and cons of encryption?

pros: will safe guard your data.

cons: Pain in the butt later.

will slow your phone down a bit.

lets say if something happens to your phone and wont boot up. to fix it and take backups of files etc etc with encryption is nearly impossible.

I have decided not to encrypt my Nexus 4.
