Android Central Question

I noticed approximately 3 weeks ago that my "auto brightness" in my drop down shade has been replaced with "outdoor mode." At the same time I also noticed that during my phone calls the proximity sensor does not work and the screen will not go dark. Instead it has been replaced with a little lock icon that says "double tap to unlock." I tried to contact Samsung and whoever I spoke to from overseas at the help desk was not very helpful. I've also manually search through all the menus related to the phone or the display and cannot find auto brightness anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! It might help to know which Samsung phone you have. Also, did it get any recent system updates?

Im having the same problem with my galaxy S9. Mine is stuck in, what seems to be max brightness. Im hoping its not a hardware issue since i just bought the phone.
