Proximity sensor not working?

My phone no longer goes black when I put it up to my ear to talk on the phone. What could the problem be?

Ha, I was hoping that it was just some setting I had wrong. Oh, well. A year and a half in, stuff will happen. Thanks!

I have the same problem since upgrading to Lollipop, as do a lot of other people. Running KitKat is the only working solution so far. It is not a hardware problem.:-\
