I'm not a power user. I have a P3a and I feel like getting a new phone. Not interested in "5g" speeds I just wonder what phone is actually better overall? Does the 4a lack things that the 5 has? Is the 5 worth the extra cash?

Honestly, besides the 8 gigs of RAM, 5G, and slightly faster chipset, the 4A doesn't have much of the advantage. If all you're looking for is a mid-range cheap good quality phone with a great camera, Go for the 4A. My mom has a Pixel 3A XL which she absolutely loves, and is of course now on Android 11 as well. I hope this somewhat helps you out a little bit .....

I preorder the p5 bc I want the extra 2GB of ram, faster chip, water/dust resistance, wireless charging and revert wireless charging, bigger battery 90hrtz refresh rate and the additional camera (wide angle lens). For me it's worth the extra money for my needs and like you i can careless about 5G
As a matter of fact 5G has nothing to do with my choice especially since there is barely any true 5G coverage in the US. Now if the extra perks are not a big deal for you then only paying $349 for a 4a vs 5 which is $699 that's a huge difference in price basically double the price.

Also I'm assuming you are referring to the smaller pixel 4a and not the 4a 5G model which si $499 and $599 if you are a Verizon customer.

Yeah I agree with you as well. Those are the same reasons why I would get the Pixel 5 as well.

Unless you like the bigger screen. The P5 is the better device. Better build, More color options, IP rating, bigger battery, wireless charge, reverse wireless charge, 90 hertz refresh rate.

Yep yep without a doubt in the world!

This is a really succinct and great way to differentiate the two. I think either would be a great buy, though.

Yes yes you're absolutely right! Both devices are good. But if you want The slightly more premium phone, Pixel 5 is your choice!

I have both sitting in front of me and the 90hz is IMO what smacks you in face when you use the 2, the 5 feels zippier. OTher than that I agree with the above battery and wireless charging.

I do not think the 5 is £250 better than the 4a though.

I was almost ready to jump ship to the new iPhone 12 but that is way too expensive of a phone that should have included a 90hz refresh rate. I won't get into the whole 60hz vs 90hz debate or Apple vs Android. Both have their benefits in my opinion.

I'm talking about bang for your buck.

The last flagship I owned was the Pixel 3 but due to poor battery life (for me at least) I sold it and got a 3A XL in white. Though I do get an occasional stutter I love this phone regardless. It meets my needs and I keep find it less and less necessary to own a flaghship or flagship priced device when mid range phones have improved so much.

All this to say, though I wouldn't mind owning the Pixel 5 I think my next upgrade will be the 4A 5G in white. It would be similar to my current device just with faster processor, memory and more storage. If you don't mind owning a bigger device (you actually get used to it) I would go the 4A 5G route and save a nice amount of cash to use on buying accesories, like case, and maybe even Pixel buds. For me it seems like the nice middle ground between the 4A and the 5.

Either that or play the waiting game to see when the Pixel 5 will work out whatever hardware issues have already been found and possibly other issues (because there always is with Pixel devices) and also wait for a possible price drop on Black Friday.

EDIT: Just read somewhere that the white version of the 4A 5g is a Verizon exclusive...hope that isn't true. Blah!!!

I think your plan is a good one...

I completely agree with you! That is what I love about the Pixels and many other Android brands: you have a choice of different "levels"/price points. Very helpful.

You know dude, I appreciate all of the support of course!!. Everyone finds that as a disadvantage to Android phones or to release the picture line versus Samsung / LG / Motorola and Apple! I have personally always found it as a huge plus. You have options slight openness you get exactly what you want. And as we all know very well, it's not about how many cameras you have on the back of your phone at the end of the date; it's about software tweaking, and Google knows that the best to the algorithms and image processing! I mean especially with pixels, you get exactly what you want you don't get any bloatware which every single other Android to blame for even a little bit of bloatware let me get three years of updates. Unlike the phones offered from Samsung or an Apple and they do their job and their work horses.
