If you're seriously considering this device and want to transfer files through usb cable, you'll need to download this

It is a file transfer program for android OS 3.0 and up. I made a video that is linked in another post, I'll embed it here as well.

Other good options will be bluetooth (depending on file size. if you have bt 3.0 on your computer, it is supported on this device), and wifi file transfer. There are plenty of apps that allow you to transfer files through a web browser and home network. Lastly, if you have an unlimited data plan, cloud storage can be useful (even if you do have a limited plan, its still a good idea for documents when not at your computer).

I realize this is a Nexus, but it would be absolutely amazing if we could somehow get the Samsung's Kies app working with it. Bad choice of naming, based on what Kies was used for in the past, but I couldn't believe my eyes at how awesome it is on the GSII. It blows any synchronization program out of the water.

I haven't used the GSII, but the app that worked on the phone is no different than the wifi file transfer apps. I had an epic, and it was the only one stateside that the kies app didn't work with. This app, while not as convenient as just mounting the storage was, works well. I wish it were like windows where you could just plug it in and your device appears... Still gotta find a better option for linux... currently, the only way i can transfer files is using the sdk.
