Publication says HTC One outselling SGS4

He missed two very important points.

It's been discovered that Apple actually reports numbers shipped, not sold. The old "Shipped vs Sold" argument - Apple admits.... - MacRumors Forums
HTC has not reported any sales or number of phones shipped.

He talks about "shipped and sold" in a follow up article. He mentions Apple also. Not sure where he is getting his figures.

HTC One surprises by outselling Galaxy S4 in first month - Stabley Times | Stabley Times

Hmmm. It's anyone's guess what the truth is. Can't trust anything anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if the One is outselling the GS4. I also wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. Only HTC AND Samsung know for now.

It wouldn't surprise me if the phone didn't sell well (the gs4) simply because gs3 owners are still locked into contracts.

Not I! I got the S3 on launch and I renewed my contract with att. Att called me and offered me an iPhone 5 with a renewal. Then I had gone to my local corp store and asked if I could use it on the HTC One as I have no interest in any apple product. To my surprise they let me! After clearing it with management. I know not everyone is in the same boat as me but att has been great! Much better than Sprint.

I will admit when I had ATT they were good about letting me upgrade phones. Sprint isn't very nice about it.

Sprint offers awesome prices! They used to let me upgrade every year. So after they changed it I left plus in my area the network was so damn slow! Do you have LTE in your area? I like GSM because its easier to replace phones. When I got my HTC One I paid for it and walked out the door. Installed the SIM my self and I was in business!

I doubt that the one would outsell the four. HTC have not even released their numbers so his information us suspect.

When you cant ship the devices fast enough to meet demand does it really matter? In general I agree that this is a salient point and something that should always be looked at when comparing sales numbers, but when there is almost no lag between "shipped to retail" and "delivered to customers" it becomes less of a concern.

Yeah I have LTE in my area (mostly.. Still being built out) so it isn't to bad network wise. Just wish I got LTE at work :P.

And yeah they won't let me upgrade since I'm in contract. I would have to buy my phone full price if I was to get the One. :(.

Will with the decline in apple popularity and market share, I think that lag might be a little longer now days

You can always buy out your contract. Depending on how far you are in it could be cheaper than paying full retail.

At least on a local level, my AT&T employee of a friend (who owns and prefers his HTC One) said that the s4 is definitely outselling the HTC one. He also said the the entire region of stores in the area have only collectively sold literally two HTC firsts lol.

Same thing happened to me (only I didn't have an S3). Not only did they let me get an HTC One, they also gave me a $100 credit for my old phone so I ended up getting the One for $99. As much as people like to beat up on AT&T I've personally always had a pretty good experience with them as my carrier.

Same here! I turned is some really old HTC Evo 4G's for $100 each. Kept my S3 and and walked out with the HTC One for $11.46 (Taxes pretty much!). Later that week I sold the S3 for $300 and made $300 on the deal and got a brand new HTC One. I for one like att. No complaints here!
