I have to get a new phone. Switching from a note 8 that is dying.
Kinda narrowed down to three. Samsung note 10 plus, s20 plus, or one plus 8 pro. Not real familair with oneplus phones only really have been using samsung for the past 4 years. I can get a very good deal on a note 10 plus now but with the 60 hz refresh rate and only 4g i feel that this will be out of date within a year.
The s20 plus is nice but the dont seem to hold their value as much as the note series.
Any help would be appreciated. And yes i do use the s- pen on occasion but it isnt a deal breaker.

I have a Note 10+ running on Pie.
Wuv it.
However what you stated about the 60 hz display add to that no 3.5 mike-mike head phone jack and does not have a bluetooth chipset that supports the latest lossless codecs (really Samsung?). The 5G is less of an issue.
Also because of it's curve screen it's hard to protect; do not take off the factory installed one until it's marred.
A good case is mandatory.

It uses more of the battery but you can set it to a lower refresh rate.
I've noticed that LCDs aren't as good as CRTs when watching boxing or Bruce Lee films because without the after phosphor afterglow the fast movement is almost impossible to see

What would be the point in having rhe 120 hertz off to save battery?
I do like the s20 but it seems that long term value on the s series seems to not be so great. Im not one for switching phones constantly so im looking to get 2 to 3 years out of a phone.

120 HZ is useful for gaming and HD vids.
Don't need it for browsing or looking at pictures.

Unless you have good 5G in your area already I would just forget about that part really.
If you have been using a Note 8 up until now then a Note 10 plus will easily get you two years of happy use from now on, OneUI 2.1 was a nice "upgrade" to it and it will still get Android 11 and OneUI 2.5 again later on.
I'd say go for the Note 10 plus 4G if you are getting a good deal.
